Lars Abrahamczyk is an Assistant Professor for Advanced Structures at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany and is lecturer in part of the international master course “Natural Hazards and Risks in Structural Engineering”. Lars attended and organized several field missions into earthquake-stricken regions and worked on several bilateral and international projects in the field of seismic risk assessment of building stocks and individual structures. Since 2009, he is the coordinator of the engineering course as part of the annual Bauhaus Summer School. Lars is mainly working towards empirical and analytical vulnerability assessment of structures, as well as the evaluation of structural and non-structural damage due to seismic action. He is further giving classes in the application of various software tools for earthquake damage and loss estimation of masonry and reinforced-concrete structures with masonry infill walls; the conceptualization and installation of earthquake monitoring networks as well as the analysis and assessment of seismic data. In addition, he is guiding master and doctoral students in his field of research.
